Here at Hays, we are recruiting for a Production Planning & Materials Manager to join an independent UK manufacturing company based in North Yorkshire. From bespoke one-off designs to low-volume manufacture, the business enjoys a unique place within its sector thanks to its application of groundbreaking technologies that drive the industry forward. This role offers a salary of £50,000 per annum, depending on experience, with 5 days required on-site with some flexibility. Reporting to the Operations Director, the purpose of this role is to create and implement a best practice capacity planning vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures in line with ERP/MRP systems to aid and improve operational efficiency.
Key skills/responsibilities:
1. Responsible for material demand planning and stock control.
2. Responsible for the efficiency and utilization of available plant hours, incorporating planning maintenance cycles.
3. Ensure capacity planning is fully integrated within the ERP/MRP systems.
4. Lead capacity planning activities ensuring delivery against operational requirements and optimizing manufacturing efficiency and costs.
5. Refine systems and methods to continually improve plans, enabling better anticipation of customer needs and maximizing planning input into tender and PCAF stages.
6. Manage deviations from the plan that have financial impacts, liaising with commercial and finance departments.
7. Monitor key manufacturing processes and data to identify capacity constraints and trends.
8. Extensive experience within a factory planning role.
9. Support and advise on best practices for the implementation of the new IFS ERP.
Experience/Qualifications required:
1. Degree (engineering or business) preferred, although professional Six Sigma or lean qualifications or equivalent are accepted.
2. Experience in a factory planning role, preferably within composite manufacturing or aerospace/defence environment.
3. Good working knowledge of MS Office applications.
4. Ideally, experience with Max and IFS MRP and implementation.
5. Confident individual with the ability to build close working relationships.
6. Self-motivated with the ability to produce accurate work and meet deadlines.
7. Excellent analytical skills.
