Job Title: Personal Advisor (Grade I)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Personal Advisor whose role involves being the first point of contact for visitors, supporting care leavers and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, and assisting allocated workers with urgent tasks. You will work closely with social workers, multi-agency networks, and various support services to ensure young people receive the care and assistance they need. This is a hands-on role requiring strong organizational and communication skills, with a focus on safeguarding and client support.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, including responding to telephone calls and duty emails
* Support care leavers and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children in care
* Assist security with visitor sign-in and visit purpose verification
* Notify social workers and Personal Advisors when young people arrive
* Provide cover for Personal Advisors during leave or sickness, including visits and support with Housing Benefit forms, Universal Credit claims, housing queries, etc.
* Support urgent tasks such as statutory visits, court attendance, and urgent meetings when required
* Liaise with multi-agency networks including mental health, therapeutic support, housing, Home Office, substance misuse agencies, and advocacy groups
* Record all contacts on LCS and escalate concerns to allocated workers and management
* Ensure all duty tasks are followed up promptly, communicating any delays to management
Essential Requirements
* Degree in Social Work or equivalent professional qualification (CQSA, Dip SW, CSS)
* GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics
* Previous experience in a similar Personal Advisor or related role
* Knowledge of Local Government roles and functions
* Strong communication skills, both oral and written
* Ability to organize workload to meet deadlines, work independently and as part of a team
* Self-motivated, flexible, trustworthy, and reliable
* Proficient with Microsoft Office
