The Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Production Manager to play a pivotal role within our Operations team. You will ensure operational excellence, compliance, and efficiency across all manufacturing activities, while helping to drive continuous improvement and business growth.

Key Responsibilities
Production Management & Control
* Oversee all hourly paid production employees across workshop and site activities
* Process works orders using the company ERP system
* Allocate labour effectively across current and forward orders to meet customer deadlines
* Maintain proactive communication with clients to ensure expectations are exceeded
* Manage logistics, including scheduling and organising deliveries
* Control contract costs in real time, monitoring labour and material usage against budgets
* Promote and sustain a strong 5S culture across all workshop areas
Welding Operations
* Oversee all welding activities to ensure compliance with international standards
* Maintain relevant qualifications and documentation for all welding operatives
* Work closely with the Responsible Welding Coordinator to ensure customer specifications are met
Productivity & Continuous Improvement
* Monitor production efficiency in real time and adjust labour allocation as needed
* Identify and eliminate non-value-adding activities
* Collaborate with colleagues to drive productivity and process improvements
Plant & Equipment
* Oversee the maintenance, control, and safe operation of all machinery, tooling, and site vehicles
* Ensure the factory and surrounding areas are well maintained and compliant with safety standards
Material Control / Stores
* Ensure material availability aligns with contract requirements
* Optimise material utilisation, minimising scrap and waste
* Manage requisitions for materials and services as required
* Support stock level reviews and effective material allocation
People & Culture
* Motivate and develop a high-performing, flexible, multiskilled workforce
* Lead by example, promoting accountability, collaboration, and pride in workmanship
* Identify training needs and implement structured development programs
Quality Assurance
* Verify product quality prior to despatch, ensuring all documentation is complete
* Uphold and implement all quality procedures throughout production
* Support corrective actions from audits and quality meetings
* Champion "right first time" culture and operator quality awareness
Health, Safety & Environment
* Ensure safe working practices across all production activities
* Uphold company H&S and environmental policies
* Maintain high housekeeping and operational standards
About You
* Proven experience as a Production Manager or similar within an engineering fabrication or manufacturing environment
* Strong background in process improvement, quality control, and operational excellence
* Hands-on leader with mechanical understanding and the ability to engage confidently with staff and clients
* Commercially astute and able to build business cases for recruitment or capital investment
* Knowledge of site services and installation processes
* A practical, people-oriented leader who thrives in an SME environment and enjoys driving change
