Bradshaws Farm Shop has been operated by the family for over 50 years. It will now form the central component of a major redevelopment of the site which will see a new 8,000 sq ft building featuring farm shop / cafe, reformer pilates studio, beauty studio and children's day nursery. The site will also have a Padel Club and Clubhouse.
We are looking for an experienced, skilled, customer-friendly butcher to lead the day-to-day operation of the butcher counter in our new farm shop. This role is ideal for someone who values high-welfare meat, enjoys engaging with customers, and takes pride in traditional butchery and nose-to-tail knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
Butchery & Counter Management
* Break down whole carcasses and joints into cuts for retail sale
* Prepare sausages, burgers, marinades, and seasonal specials
* Maintain well-stocked, visually appealing displays
* Monitor stock rotation, quality, and minimise waste
* Work to hygiene, safety, and HACCP standards
* Work with on-site cafe (or local restaurant) to share unsold stock / utilise waste
Customer Experience
* Provide friendly, knowledgeable service to customers at the counter
* Offer cooking tips, cut recommendations, and help educate customers about different breeds or provenance
* Take pre-orders for seasonal meats (e.g. Christmas, BBQs, Sunday roasts)
Ordering & Admin
* Work with the shop manager to order meat from the farm and/or suppliers
* Keep clear records of prep, wastage, traceability, and stock levels
Ideal Candidate
* Minimum 2–3 years' butchery experience (retail or trade)
* Knowledge of traditional cuts, nose-to-tail skills, and seasonal meats
* Food hygiene certification (Level 2 or 3 preferred)
* Friendly, confident, and customer-focused approach
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on retail environment
Working Hours
* Typically 5 days/week, including Saturdays and occasional Sundays
* Early starts may be required for prep and deliveries
* Flexibility during seasonal peaks (Christmas, summer BBQ season, etc.)

Pay: £24,420.00-£30,000.00 per year
