Main duties of the job

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Occupational Health Adviser to join our high-performing nurse-led team.

This part-time role offers a varied and rewarding workload, supporting both North Yorkshire Council and our external partners.

As an autonomous practitioner, you will:

* Deliver clinical advice on employment-related health matters, including fitness to work, rehabilitation, and suitability for roles.
* Lead and support health promotion initiatives that enhance workforce wellbeing.
* Collaborate with managers and stakeholders to ensure occupational health advice is practical, effective, and aligned with organisational goals.
* Youll be part of a team that values quality over quantityour OHAs typically manage no more than 5 cases per day, allowing time for thoughtful, impactful work.

This post is currently eligible for a Market Supplement of £2600 per annum (pro rata for part time staff) rounded to the nearest £100. The supplement will be payable in the form of a monthly allowance. It is a temporary allowance which will be subject to review but not to the inflationary uplift resulting from the national pay award.

Job responsibilities

Were looking for someone who is:

* A Registered General Nurse with a Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health.
* Experienced in case management and confident in clinical decision-making.
* A strong communicator with a customer-focused, solution-oriented approach.
* Commercially aware, with an understanding of how occupational health contributes to organisational success.

Working Pattern & Location

We have the opportunity to offer either a 2 day, or 3 day working week (15 hours and 22.5 hours respectively).

You will generally work from home 1 day a week, with either 1 or 2 office days working from County Hall, Northallerton.

There will be on-site working required for the initial 2-week induction period and periodically for face-to-face meetings and clinical supervision

Person Specification


Qualifications

* - Registered General Nurse
* - Registered Occupational Health Nurse (Degree or Diploma)
* -Ability to travel across the County
* - Ability to attend meetings outside of normal business hours of normal
* business hours


Experience

* Detailed knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health Nursing and all
* core Occupational Health services
* Sound understanding of Health and Safety legislation and the Equality Act
* 2010
* Research/Evidence based practice
* Health Promotion
* Clinical Governance
* Significant post registration experience or the ability to demonstrate the
* equivalent level of knowledge.
* Proven track record of Occupational Health Nursing experience or the ability
* to demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge.
* Clinic based work experience in a nurse led environment
* Experience of providing Health screening and health surveillance activity
* Proven track record in the planning and delivery of successful Health
* promotion initiatives
* Recent experience of auditing against Occupational Health standards
* Recent experience and proven track record of influencing and implementing
* changes to clinical protocols
* Recent experience of Policy formulation
* Proven track record of working in partnership with external agencies
* Experience of acting as a lead nurse in a clinic based nurse led
