An established leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor, recognised nationally for delivering complex highways, bridges and public realm schemes, is seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer to support a major bridge replacement and transport infrastructure project in Bristol.
This is a high-profile scheme involving significant structural, highways and public realm elements, delivered in a live urban environment. The project forms a key part of the city’s transport and regeneration strategy and offers a long, secure run of work for the right individual.
The Role
As Setting Out Engineer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day engineering and surveying activities on site, working closely with the site management and engineering teams to ensure works are delivered accurately, safely and in line with design.
This role will suit an engineer with experience in civil engineering, bridge works or highways projects, who is confident working independently and managing setting out responsibilities from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities

Setting out for structural, highways and bridge-related works
*
Carrying out engineering surveys and checks
*
Interpreting drawings, specifications and technical information
*
Producing and maintaining accurate setting out records
*
Ensuring works are delivered to design tolerances and quality standards
*
Supporting site management with technical queries and buildability input
*
Assisting with as-built surveys and handover documentation
*
Using CAD for setting out, coordination and engineering records
*
Liaising with subcontractors and supervising setting out activities where required
Requirements
*
Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer on civil engineering or infrastructure projects
*
Strong understanding of surveying and setting out techniques
*
Confident using total stations, GPS and CAD software
*
Ability to work accurately in a live, busy environment
*
Valid CSCS card (essential)
*
Own setting out equipment preferred, but equipment can be provided if required
