Are you a student who is in their 2nd year at University looking to kick start your career in R&D? As R&D Scientist, you will have the opportunity to work directly with and learn from an experienced team who will support you to reach your full potential. R&D Scientist will provide a support in shaping in delivering our purpose and mission, building credibility, equity and trust in Haleon’s portfolio of products based on our ingredient approach, delivering competitive advantage and tangible consumer value. The core purpose of the role is to:
* Act as R&D Scientist in the Trusted Ingredient team to generate ingredient opportunities.
* Support ingredient initiatives to proactively manage ingredient risks and protect Haleon core business.
R&D Trusted Ingredient Scientist Industrial Placement: Key Activities:
* Enhance Haledon’s strategic foresight by improving and optimizing new and existing AI tools for early detection and monitoring of ingredient and packaging material’s related risks.
* Assign the appropriate Trusted Ingredient Indices to ingredients, considering the internal and external concerns.
* Conduct scientific research using state-of-the-art technology. Develop research plans to fit the overall Trusted Ingredient strategy. Collaborate with outsourcing leaders, scientists, and contractors to execute activities.
* Design and perform experiments to characterize ingredients, interpret data, and determine next steps, ensuring compliance with EHS and Quality standards.
* Collaborate effectively across multiple organizational disciplines (e.g., Sustainability, Procurement, Supply Chain) and build strong relationships with team members at various levels and locations.
Education Requirements:
You are currently studying towards an Undergraduate Degree in: Chemistry, Chemical Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Food Sciences.
If you are studying for your Undergraduate Degree you must be in your 2nd year of study (England) or 3rd year of study (Scotland) and seeking to complete a year in industry in partnership with your university. Please ensure the role is suitable for your placement year.
Role Start Date: July 2026

* Hirevue One-Way Video Interview – if selected you receive a link to complete an one-way video interview focusing on your motivation for joining Haleon and what transferrable skills you will bring to the role. This will be screened by the Early Talent Team.
* Interview – if selected you will be invited to attend a virtual interview; The interview will consist of a competency-based interview and may include a case study/technical exercise.
* Offer – candidates will receive an outcome within 2 weeks following interview.
