HV Fitters Location: Orkney Islands Rates: Starting at £29 an hour increases Start date: 25th of May 2026 Duration: Long-term contract (12 months) Turner Lovell's client is a leading energy infrastructure contractor delivering major high-voltage transmission and substation projects across the UK. Turner Lovell is currently seeking experienced HV Fitters to support a major new build substation project in the Orkney Islands. You will be involved in mechanical installation activities across HV substation works, supporting steelwork erection, plant installation, lifting operations, and associated fit-out activities. All roles require experience working in HV substation environments, with GIS installation experience highly desirable. Accommodation, flights, and transfers to site are provided. Duties: Mechanical installation of HV substation plant and equipment Steelwork erection, gantry assembly, and structural installation works Support lifting operations and material handling activities Installation support for HV equipment and associated substation infrastructure Assist with cable installation preparation and site fit-out works Work safely in accordance with RAMS, SHEQ procedures, and toolbox talks Support coordination of site activities across multiple work fronts Requirements: Valid CSCS Card (all roles) Relevant CPCS tickets depending on role allocation Proven experience working in HV substation construction or heavy industrial environments GIS installation experience is highly desirable Strong understanding of site safety procedures and RAMS compliance Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined site team Experience in mechanical installation, lifting operations, or plant operation within infrastructure projects Strong safety awareness and proactive working attitude If you're an HV Fitter with experience working on GIS Substation projects with a CSCS card and a combination of the following CPCS tickets: Gentry Crane Telehandler Slinger Signaller Plant Operator (Roto) And you are interested in this opportunity or would like further information, please get in touch with: Marcus Horne
