We are recruiting Band 4 Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners on 2‑year fixed‑term contracts and Band 5 Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners / Education Mental Health Practitioners on permanent contracts.
Band 4 trainees will receive a Health Education England funded place to train at a selected university (likely Northampton) in delivering Low Intensity CBT and Whole Setting Approach initiatives within education settings. Post‑completion, trainees may apply for Band 5 positions.
Core responsibilities
* Deliver low‑intensity CBT and evidence‑based early interventions in primary, secondary and further education settings.
* Provide assemblies and workshops to schools and colleges.
* Support school staff to identify and manage mild to moderate mental health and wellbeing issues.
* Liaise with external specialist services to secure appropriate support for children and young people.
* Assist the senior mental health lead in implementing whole school or college approaches.
* Travel across Birmingham and Solihull area and attend in‑person university teaching days.
* Attend supervisory sessions, plan and create resources, and participate in team meetings.
Required qualifications and experience
Band 4 Trainee:
* Must hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent.
* Must be willing to participate in all relevant training and maintain a care qualification (NVQ 3 or equivalent).
* Must meet GCSE English grade 9–4 or equivalent.
* Must be able to commence the Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Mental Health Practice (EMHP) in October 2026.
Band 5 Qualified:
* Qualified in psychological wellbeing, mental health practice or equivalent.
* Experience delivering low‑intensity CBT and whole setting interventions in education settings.
