The job itself
The role is for 2 workers to be employed to work together to work 4 hours per week each to support the young man. This is for 22 weeks per weeks.
One of the roles is then extended for a further 22 weeks per year.
Therefore - one role is for 44 weeks per year employment and one role for 22 weeks per year. Both roles are for 4 hours per week.
About the recipient
The individual is male, 18 years old and resides in Cottingham. They require a dedicated and suitable person to support them due to having Autism.
They like/enjoy Walking, trampoline, bowling and other activities.
They don’t like going in busy public areas.
About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
1. Assisting the individual with keeping them safe and happy, they should know the needs and ways to deal with individual's needs and disabilities.
2. Preferred as one of two workers be male as they will be assisting person in public toilets when going out.
3. Assisting with personal care.
4. Assisting the individual with accessing activities and spending time out in the community.
5. Attending/transporting the individual to social activities and appointments.
6. Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.
Hours
4 hours.

The suitable candidate must:
7. Be motivated, proactive and able to work on their own initiative.
8. Be patient, caring and understanding.
9. Have good communication skills (clear and effective communication).
10. Be able to build a positive relationship with the individual to both encourage and support them.
11. Have previous experience caring for an individual with additional needs.
12. Be flexible to accommodate the hours of work where necessary.
13. Be a team player and able to work effectively alongside another carer.
14. Must have use of own car, to transport individual to social activities and appointments.
DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post - Cost to be met by the local authority.
