Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Endoscopist to join our high-performing and expanding Endoscopy Service.
Our service continues to grow following the refurbishment and expansion of our Charing Cross Hospital unit, where we are moving to full capacity across four procedure rooms. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking team delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across our hospital sites.
As a Clinical Endoscopist, you will independently perform diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy on both sedated and non-sedated patients. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in the delivery, development, and ongoing improvement of our endoscopy service.
This role is ideal for an enthusiastic and inspirational nurse endoscopist with a strong commitment to holistic patient care, education, and service excellence. You will work across Charing Cross, St Mary’s, and Hammersmith Hospitals, with support from the Lead Clinical Endoscopist and the Endoscopy Clinical Lead.
Main duties of the job
1. Be a JAG accredited endoscopist working autonomously in performing diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopy procedures on sedated and non-sedated patients.
2. Undertake 5 endoscopy lists per week and additionally when required, provide backfill for one other.
3. Be an active member of the endoscopy users’ group.
4. Work closely with the clinical, nursing and admin teams to ensure clear pathway for patients and effective management plans.
5. Be responsible for developing and maintaining audits and databases to assess compliance with JAG regulations, and be able to present findings and make recommendations to the multidisciplinary team.
6. Conduct analysis to understand differences and trends in screening uptake and establish where to target health promotion efforts.
7. Engage in the development and maintenance of a range of expert networks.

Essential criteria
8. Registered Nurse (level 1)
9. Post registration qualification in specialty
10. Educated to postgraduate diploma/degree level or equivalent experience
11. JAG accredited
12. Non-medical prescribing
13. Knowledge of disease and care related to symptom management and treatments
14. Knowledge of both endoscopy Global Rating Score (GRS) and JAG accreditation standards
Desirable criteria
15. Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
16. Management certificate or equivalent experience
17. Train the trainers in endoscopy
Experience
Essential criteria
18. Up to date knowledge and experience in lower GI endoscopy
19. Knowledge and experience of principles of administration of IV sedation and their reversal agents
20. Clinical leadership at a senior level in an acute setting including people, financial and change management
21. Experience of running nurse-led clinics
22. Experience of undertaking audits of research, as necessary e.g. audits of clinical incidents
23. Experience of involvement in the development and reviewing of appropriate guidelines, protocols and pathways
24. Experience of managing investigations and resolving complaints
25. Experience in quality assurance projects
26. Experience of providing health advice
27. Experience of deputising in a senior role
