Eden Scott has been retained by Hire and Supplies Limited to appoint a new General Manager. The role reports to the Managing Director, David Chandler, and will have overall responsibility for the business in time for his retirement. It is an on-site position based in Dumfries.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic leadership of the team, ensuring all managers and employees are supported and working together towards the same goals and directional strategy.
- Promote and foster a safe working environment, where safety comes first.
- Ensure department heads and their teams are supported, staffed correctly and working effectively.
- Maintain and drive a professional relationship with customers, ensuring the highest level of service at all times.
- Document and action complaints accordingly.
- Encourage effective communication across the company.
- Full P&L responsibilities to ensure ongoing profitability and growth.
- Provide clear and accurate reporting to the board.
Experience Required
- Evidence of working at a strategic level within a high-quality customer service and health and safety focused industry.
- Previous experience within the hire industry advantageous.
- Experience managing high performing teams.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, willing to be hands‑on when needed.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels and with all stakeholders, including customers.
- Previous P&L responsibility.
- Commercial astute with evidence of budget setting, KPI management and performance management.
- Computer literate.
