Overview
The Physical Therapist (PT) is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with physical impairments, functional limitations, or movement-related conditions. This role focuses on restoring mobility, reducing pain, improving functional independence, and preventing disability through evidence-based therapeutic interventions. The Physical Therapist works collaboratively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary care teams to deliver high-quality rehabilitative care.
Responsibilities
* Perform comprehensive patient evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans
* Provide therapeutic interventions including exercises, manual therapy, modalities, and functional training
* Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and document outcomes accurately
* Educate patients and caregivers on treatment goals, home exercise programs, and injury prevention
* Supervise and guide Physical Therapist Assistants and support staff as applicable
* Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards
* Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care
* Ensure patient safety, proper body mechanics, and adherence to infection control practices
* Maintain treatment equipment and ensure a safe therapeutic environment
* Comply with ethical standards, state practice acts, and healthcare regulations
Qualifications
* Required Qualifications
o Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited program
o Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years
o Current Physical Therapist license or eligibility for licensure in the applicable state
o Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and rehabilitation techniques
o Ability to assess, diagnose, and develop evidence-based treatment plans
o Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills
o Ability to work with patients across diverse age groups and physical conditions
o Proficiency with clinical documentation and electronic health record systems
* Preferred Qualifications
o Prior clinical experience in outpatient, inpatient, rehabilitation, or acute care settings
o Experience treating orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, or post-surgical conditions
o Strong collaboration and leadership skills
o Certifications
o CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
