About the role
The Research Assistant will work under the supervision of Dr Christina Zarouchlioti on identifying repeat-associated non-AUG (RAN) translated peptides in Fuchs Endothelial Dystrophy (FECD), a common corneal disease. Findings from this project are also anticipated to be relevant to other human diseases that are similarly caused by expansions of triplet repeats, such as myotonic dystrophy and Huntington’s disease.
The position would suit an ambitious graduate with a background and interest in the mechanisms of repeat expansion biology, neurodegeneration, and human disease models. The successful candidate would ideally have experience with molecular biology techniques, immunohistochemistry, cell culture and/or microscopy.
Post duration: The post is funded by Moorfields Eye Charity and will be for 12 months in the first instance.
Salary: UCL Grade 6b (£39, - £41, per annum, including London Allowance)
