Data Technician

We are pleased to offer the opportunity to join our team in the role of Data Technician. The post will be part of the Applications Service within Digital Healthcare of North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC), based at our office in Carlisle.

Digital Healthcare provides a range of services to the Trust and its Partners across Cumbria and the North East. This includes Information Governance, Digital Programmes, and Operational Services.

The Data Engineering team specialises in managing and securing the flow of structured and unstructured data from multiple sources into useful and usable products, and plays a key role in the delivery of digital healthcare in the Trust.

The team looks after numerous interfaces, data flows and information systems, the team is currently made up of 4 Data Engineers, a Automation Engineer and 2 Data Technicians, as well as being supported by the Data Architect and Technical Manager and the Head of Application Delivery service. These roles will work alongside this team to assist with the delivery of the EPR.The post is available as an apprenticeship opportunity, either before or during the apprenticeship, apprentices will be required to achieve level 2 qualifications in English and mathematics prior to taking the end point assessment.

Digital Healthcare also operates an Out of Hours 24/7 On-Call service which you may be invited to take part in.


Main duties of the job

The service works with both internal and external customers and can be a busy service that requires individuals to often work under pressure and with accuracy. One thing that sets our teams apart is the team spirit and recognition in Trust communications and nominations for national awards for helping to improve patient safety.

Being able to communicate effectively with staff and colleagues is essential as you will be responsible for the resolution of incident tickets and dealing with issues as they arise.

The post holder will need to rapidly gain an in depth understanding and knowledge of the existing data platforms, content, structure and operability of the current complex systems, interlinking programs and routines, the data and underlying processes and then apply that detailed knowledge to be able to strengthen the processes and support the capture of new information.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate and give examples of their experience within their supporting information relating to the essential criteria outlined on the job description. Training will be given so experience is not required.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Educated to a degree level or equivalent experience in delivering and supporting interfaces and data flows between systems and applications
* ITIL Foundation
* PRiNCE2 Foundation


Knowledge

* Understanding and supporting data flows and interfaces
* Database administration and data processing in a complex information environment.
* Interface and data warehouse support, system administration and upgrades
* Understanding of industry wide interoperability and message standards (e.g. FHIR, HL7)
* Technical understanding of interfaces and integration engines (e.g. MIG, Mirth)
* Knowledge of a Microsoft based environment
* Knowledge of data warehouses and associated access tools (e.g. SQL Server)
* Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services; Integration Services; Reporting Services
* In depth understanding of SCCI0129 - Safer Design of IT Systems
* Testing and quality assurance skills
* Can produce, maintain and update relevant data models for specific business needs


Experience

* Working across multiple organisations and in multi-disciplinary teams
