SEN Teaching Assistant – Mainstream Primary, Havering and Brentwood
Full-time, long-term role
Start date: ASAP
Looking for a role where you can make a real difference every day? We work with primary schools across Havering and Brentwood and are looking for a calm, caring, and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join full-time to support within one of these schools.
You’ll be supporting pupils who need an extra bit of patience and encouragement to help them access learning and feel settled in class. If you’re someone who finds joy in small wins and steady progress, you’ll fit right in.
What you’ll be doing
Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs
Helping children stay focused, follow routines, and feel confident in class
Working closely with the SENCO and class teacher
Supporting behaviour, communication, and social skills
Creating a safe, supportive learning space
What we are looking for
Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, either in school or another care or childcare setting
A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification, or similar experience that brings strong transferable skills
Someone patient, warm, and ready to get stuck in
A team player who’s happy to follow guidance and use their initiative
Experience in care, youth work, nurseries, or any hands-on childcare role is a big plus. If you’ve supported people in any setting where empathy and calm thinking mattered, your skills will transfer beautifully here.
