Opportunity at Marlborough Highways: Bid Writer
Marlborough Highways has a fantastic opportunity for a Bid Writer to join their growing team based in Chelmsford, Essex. As a Bid Writer, you will lead the production of winning quality submissions, working closely with the Bid Director to set strategies for these submissions, focusing on developing win themes through analysis of client intelligence and corporate strategies. We are seeking a proactive and energetic individual with extensive experience in developing compelling quality submissions that differentiate us from the competition.
Key Responsibilities
* Take responsibility for producing all written responses, either as the lead author or supporting other bid team members. This includes owning and writing specific responses, conducting interviews with operational and support staff, and proofreading/correcting documents produced by others. Support other Bid Writers in developing responses to quality questions.
* Produce high-quality written sections/responses for all aspects of the delivery process, using own knowledge or information obtained from interviews with internal teams.
* Research client backgrounds and strategies, and relate this information to the Bid Team.
* Meet with key subcontractors and suppliers to gather evidence of past works and develop tender-specific solutions.
* Attend site visits to gain onsite knowledge and develop case studies.
* Support the Bid Director in preparing presentations for both mid-bid and post-submission meetings.
Post Submission Responsibilities
* Attend pre- and post-award meetings with clients to facilitate operational and commercial project handovers.
* Meet with clients on successful and unsuccessful bids to gather feedback and improve future tenders.
* Assist in developing and maintaining bid collateral, such as case studies.
* Participate in project close-out meetings and produce relevant materials.
* Visit live contracts to review current best practices and feed knowledge back into the Bid Team.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
* Degree qualification or equivalent experience.
* Excellent writing and presentation skills.
* Proficiency in relevant IT software.
* Proven track record of leading bid submissions.
* Experience in managing and mentoring team members.
* Ability to handle multiple priorities within demanding timescales.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Strong relationship-building and communication skills across the business.
