Assistant Accountant
Location: London
Job Role
To provide accounting and financial support in achieving contract goals by ensuring revenue and costs are booked correctly and in a timely manner each month.
Duties
* Assist with P&L, balance sheet preparation, WIP reconciliations, and month-end journals.
* Lead weekly cost reviews and support operational teams with financial awareness and reporting.
* Manage sales ledger tasks including invoicing, cash allocation, debtor reporting, and payment chasing.
* Oversee purchase processes (orders, invoice coding, cost entry) and job creation in finance systems.
* Produce cost analysis, job reports, and support the preparation of monthly management packs.
Person Specification
* Part qualified with professional accounting body e.g. CIMA Certificate / Operational Level complete / AAT or similar.
* Demonstrated experience using Accounting Systems (SAP Preferred).
* Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles and processes.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and business partnering skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong time management and prioritisation skills.
* Intermediate level use of Excel e.g. Pivot tables / SUMIFS / Vlookups.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
Contract & Hours
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time - 37.5 - Monday to Friday
