About the Role
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical expertise and support for shop floor operations within a high-precision manufacturing environment. The role focuses on developing and maintaining process documentation, tooling guidance, critical checks, and maintenance programs. The Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate with operations and cross-functional teams to resolve production issues and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, review, and improve manufacturing work instructions and tooling documentation.
* Collaborate with operations, IT, tooling, supply chain, and maintenance teams to ensure successful implementation of process improvements.
* Investigate and develop new processes, methods, and layouts to enhance equipment flexibility and throughput.
* Identify process inefficiencies and propose solutions for improvement.
* Assist senior engineers with project tasks, resource management, and workflow optimization.
* Investigate non-conformities and implement corrective actions within production tooling or processes.
* Collect and analyse production data (downtime, cycle times, throughput) to support KPI tracking and continuous improvement.
* Coordinate maintenance and repair services to keep equipment operational.
* Support structured problem-solving initiatives linked to projects and day-to-day manufacturing challenges.
* Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety, and Energy procedures.
* Maintain tooling and equipment master data within digital systems (SAP/ERP).
* Conduct time and motion studies, workflow analysis, line balancing, capacity analysis, and process mapping to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
Education and Qualifications
* Minimum HND in a mechanical or manufacturing discipline.
* Significant CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred).
* Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Statistical Process Control training advantageous.
* Higher qualifications considered where relevant experience is demonstrated.

* Strong communication skills, able to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Team player, capable of working effectively within a matrix environment.
* Analytical, innovative, goal-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
* Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making abilities.
Experience and Knowledge
* Experience creating manufacturing work instructions and inspection documentation.
* Ability to read engineering drawings and apply basic metrology skills.
* Familiarity with mechanical manufacturing processes, including surface finishing of metal components (Aerospace experience desirable).
* Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred), ERP/MRP systems, and MS Office.
* Experience in leveraging digital systems and automation tools to optimise manufacturing processes.
Working Conditions
* Flexible working hours may be required, including potential shifts, evenings, or weekends during critical project phases.
* Office-based role with significant time spent in production areas, exposure to chemicals possible.
* Occasional travel to other sites within the business group may be required.
Additional Requirements
* Right to live and work in the UK unrestricted.
* Completion of mandatory training programs.
* No direct reports.
