Restorative Nursing Assistant Primary Job Function
The primary purpose of this position is to carry out restorative nursing functions. The restorative care plans are developed according to the needs of each individual resident to ensure that the resident is able to increase or maintain their highest possible functioning level while in the care of our facility.
Responsibilities
Restorative Nursing Assistant Primary Responsibilities
* Performing and providing written/verbal care assignments, routine skills, and procedures to ensure the quality of care to residents. This includes:
* Providing direct restorative care and delegated formalized therapy tasks as assigned, completing work accurately, safely, and in a timely manner;
* Participating in all aspects of restorative care programming and facilitating such programs (e.g., range of motion, walking, etc.);
* Assisting Restorative Nurse in administering the Bowel and Bladder Program and assisting care staff with scheduled toileting;
* Notifying the Charge Nurse/Restorative Nurse of resident progress, regress, or refusal to participate in the program for assessment and care plan adjustments;
* Making a second attempt to provide services when a resident refuses or is out of the facility;
* Monitoring equipment and reporting needs to therapy or the restorative nurse;
* Serving as a resource and teammate to other nursing assistants in providing restorative care;
* Participating in QA programs related to these functions;
* Understanding and assisting with rehabilitation and restorative nursing programs;
* Providing medical record documentation in accordance with facility policies and procedures;
* Providing a list of residents on restorative programs to the nurse in charge;
* Following care plan directives and documenting services accurately;
* Documenting minutes on designated forms for restorative plans.
Requirements
Complying with safety, infection control, and cleanliness standards, including:
* Using protective devices appropriately under staff nurse supervision;
* Following emergency protocols for crash carts, resident safety, fire, missing residents, tornadoes, violent residents, alarms, and other policies;
* Reporting any abuse witnessed or suspected;
* Following infection control and universal precautions;
* Maintaining clean and sanitary work areas;
* Performing other duties as assigned by the Restorative Nurse or designee.
Qualifications
Restorative Nursing Assistant Qualifications:
* High school diploma or GED, unless working under a student permit;
* Certified by the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) as a CNA in good standing. CNAs transferring from another state may work for 120 days while awaiting Indiana certification. CNA students not yet certified may also work for 120 days while awaiting certification.
