About The Role
The Sizewell C (SZC) project requires a Senior Technical Writer to support and develop the engineering solutions, methods, programme and Target Outturn Cost during the pre‑construction phase, and support and lead the Technical Writers. The role is aimed at supporting the technical, pricing and programme submissions that form the agreed works to be delivered by the Civil Works Alliance (CWA). The prime area of focus is to develop compelling technical proposals in support of the Target Outturn Cost (TOC) and supporting information.
What you'll be doing
* Reporting to the Pre‑Construction Lead and deputising for the Lead as required.
* Managing and controlling the technical writing team, ensuring adequate staffing for assignments.
* Providing responsibility for projects and supervising, controlling and developing junior personnel.
* Providing significant management responsibility and direction within the team, including client, technical and programme coordination.
Cross‑discipline Liaison, Specialist Skills and Experience
* Communicate effectively with other members of the project team and with other departments.
* Provide feedback and development to members of the Technical Writing team.
* Comply with all the project’s safety and quality assurance requirements.
* Ensure appropriate training is undertaken for team personnel.
* Gather and collate information to produce technical proposals and supporting material to meet the TOC submission requirements.
* Assist in developing and delivering a programme of deliverables to support TOC and award of works packages/task orders.
* Capture and support development of technical content from meetings and one‑to‑one reviews and discussions.
* Draft specific responses to questions and queries raised during the TOC process.
* Carry out reviews of responses to questions raised during the TOC process.
* Research and write supporting information for use in the submissions, including relevant case studies, CVs, project innovations and best practice.

Essential skills
* Relevant work experience spanning several programmes and tenders.
* Excellent written English and strong verbal communication skills.
* Good appreciation and understanding of civil engineering.
* Good communication skills.
* Self‑discipline and time management.
* Construction experience preferable.
* Problem‑solving and creative thinking.
* Teamwork.
* Lead and manage a team of Technical Writers.
* Understanding and input to scheduling of work to enable accurate forecasting and delivery of TOC submissions.
Desirable skills
* Experience in civil engineering or complex construction projects and programmes.
* Knowledge of industrial health and safety legislation and personal safety.
Qualifications & Experience

* Technical / Engineering / Communications or similar relevant degree.
