Job summary

There is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic qualified registered nurse to join the Ashfield Healthy Family Teams.

You will work in community settings, health centres, schools, family hubs, and clients' homes to deliver the Universal Healthy Child Programme to the local 0-19 age populations and Tier 1 (emotional health support) targeted health services to the local 5-19 age population.

Our teams work towards an integrated 0-19 public health agenda. The team comprises Specialist Public Health Practitioners leading teams of Public Health Practitioners, Assistant Public Health Practitioners, Healthy Child Assistants, and Screening Assistants in delivering a universal and targeted 0-19 Healthy Child and Public Health Nursing Programme. We partner with local Family Hubs to promote health and address health inequalities within the scope of your competencies.

Main duties of the job

The Healthy Families Team provides universal and targeted health services to the 0-19-year population in Ashfield. You will support the management of a defined workload within a skilled, mixed team.

You will be responsible for delivering public health interventions, including safeguarding, across the 0-19 years age range, in line with The Healthy Child Programme, delegated by the Specialist Public Health Practitioner. This includes adhering to national and local guidelines and priorities.

You will support and supervise clinically the Assistant Public Health Practitioners, Healthy Child Assistants, and Screening Assistants assigned to a geographical area to maintain high standards of practice.

The team proactively adopts a partnership approach to promote health and tackle health inequalities within your competency level.

Job responsibilities

The Healthy Families Team delivers universal and targeted health services to the 0-19-year population in Nottinghamshire. You will support the management of a defined caseload within a skilled, diverse team.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified, experienced nurse with strong communication skills to develop within a community setting. We provide a friendly, supportive environment with excellent development prospects.

You will be responsible for delivering public health interventions across the 0-19 years age range, delegated by the Specialist Public Health Practitioner for your designated population, in accordance with national and local guidelines and priorities.

You will support and supervise the skill mix team allocated to your geographical area to ensure high standards of practice.

The team works proactively with partners to promote health and address health inequalities within your scope of practice.

You will work with children, young people, and families in their homes, schools, or other community settings.

A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use are required; reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled applicants under the Equality Act 2010.

Please note: applicants must pay for their DBS check, with costs deducted from salary (£26.40 standard or £54.40 enhanced). Consider enrolling in the DBS Update Service for an annual fee of £16.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* First-level Registration Nurse with current NMC registration
* Evidence of ongoing professional development


Experience

* Knowledge of the safeguarding children's agenda
* Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
* Experience supervising junior staff
* Previous experience working with children, young people, and families
* Public health experience
* Community experience


Skills, Knowledge, and Aptitude

* Understanding of current children & family health priorities
* Proven communication skills—written, oral, and IT
* Interpersonal skills
* Organisational skills (time management, record keeping, prioritisation)
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Flexibility
* Knowledge of local and national public health priorities

* Knowledge of research and audit processes
