MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


Housing

* To support with the resident referral, assessment, allocations and induction process, including issuing appropriate tenure and other agreements and ensuring residents understand their rights and responsibilities within the service
* Be responsible for a caseload of residents and guide them to achieve target outcomes – i.e., application and receipt of housing benefits, personal rent, registering for additional services, keeping appointments etc.
* Work as a team to manage anti-social behaviour, including nuisance and harassment and ensure that people feel safe in their accommodation.
* Signpost residents to register with GP, mental health/ drug & alcohol services as appropriate, seeking support from the Mental Wellness team where necessary.
* Implement, monitor and review Safety Plans in conjunction with the resident as appropriate.
* Hold regular key- work and Personal Development Planning meetings with residents and monitor progress
* Encourage residents to take responsibility for their own lives by setting SMART objectives and providing on-going practical support, guidance and signposting to help them sustain their accommodation and prepare for resettlement.
* Ensure that the voices of service users are consistently sought to enable them to shape service delivery
* To perform appropriate health and safety checks, risk assessments and maintain records
* Provide an out of hours' service on an on-call rota basis with the team to support the accommodation and/ or residents.
* Monitoring building safety including carrying out health and safety related assessments of the property & its visitors/occupants.
* To adhere to and operate within the rent arrears and voids policy and procedures minimising voids and maximising income, where applicable.
* To complete property inspections – where necessary offering appropriate advice & guidance on standards of hygiene or addressing health and safety risks.
* Deliver programmes that will support residents from across Northampton to develop a range of life skills – e.g. budgeting; understanding rights and responsibilities of occupancy agreements; personal and property hygiene; recognising positive relationships etc. and deliver through structured 1-1 & group programmes
* Encourage engagement through drop-in activities to reduce isolation and boost mental wellbeing.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

* Be instrumental in promoting excellent safeguarding practices in conjunction with Local Authority and IMPAKT safeguarding policies.
* Use the InForm software management system accurately to record client information, updating as appropriate.
* Be flexible to the changing needs of the organisation and its service users.
* Abide by the organisations staff working policies and procedures.
* Promote the aims, purposes, mission and services delivered by the organisation.
* In addition to the duties set out in this job description the post holder may at times be required to undertake additional or other duties to meet the needs of the organisation.

* Participate fully as a member of the team to ensure that services are provided and maintained to a high standard.
* Communicate effectively with external professionals working with residents, attending meetings where necessary.

Understanding of the impact of trauma and ability to work in a trauma informed way within a PIE

Good understanding of safeguarding and what constitutes abuse

Y

knowledge of competencies that support sustainment of tenancies

Y

Knowledge of local Communities, and voluntary organisations and agencies

Y

Level 2 or above in working with people at risk who are homeless, or equivalent in social care, support services etc.

Evidence of CPD

Skills and abilities:

Good analytical skills to assess needs and establish effective support of residents. Competent in risk assessment/ safety planning

Ability to build supportive relationships with residents whilst maintaining professional boundaries

Ability to work as part of the team, but also on own initiative and, at times, unsupervised

Excellent record keeping and writing skills to keep accurate case note records and achievement paperwork

Y

Ability to develop a range of activities that successfully engage residents

Y

Ability to use Information and Communication Technology and Housing specific software applications

Y

Good written and verbal communication skills and the capacity to engage and communicate with individuals at all levels

Y

Qualities and General:

Highly committed to improving the lives of homeless people and helping them achieve successful resettlement

Ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings, weekends and be part of the on-call rota

Y

Work within the boundaries of the Organisation's Policies and Procedures

SCHEDULE:



37.5 hours a week Monday to Friday 9:00-5:00 – willing to be flexible on occasions
