Consultant Transplant Surgeon: Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation with commitment to Organ Retrieval

Salary £111,430 to £148,064 per annum (pro rata if applicable)
40 Hours per week (With rota commitments 8% availability supplement)
This post is for a Consultant Surgeon in Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation with a commitment to Organ Retrieval.
The post holder will be based primarily at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh but will be expected to undertake clinics and other clinical work at other sites as required.
Duties & responsibilities:
The post involves kidney and pancreas transplantation (implant, on-call, duty weeks and outpatient clinics) and a commitment to multivisceral abdominal organ retrieval for Retrieval Edinburgh (RED) team, as part of the National Organ Retrieval Service (NORS).
Provide training for junior surgeons in kidney and pancreas transplant surgery and related procedures.
Provide training for junior surgeons in organ retrieval surgery and related procedures.
Participation in academic, clinical and audit meetings
Out of hours commitment to multi-organ retrieval rota and emergency transplant activity.
Key requirements:
GMC registered medical practitioner.
License to practice.
On the GMC specialist register for General Surgery, or within 6 months of entry to the specialist register.
Additional sub-specialty training in transplantation surgery and perioperative management.
Broad experience in abdominal multivisceral organ retrieval.

The Edinburgh Transplant Centre provides care at a national level for Scotland through the liver, pancreas and the islet isolation and transplant program. In addition the center is co-commissioned to provide the national kidney transplant service.
