Head of Comms & Engagement – Arriva Group
Arriva is a leading European passenger transport partner operating in 11 countries. The company employs around 35,000 people and delivers over 1.5 billion passenger journeys annually.
We are looking for a Head of Comms & Engagement on a full‑time, permanent basis to join our Employee Experience Team. The role can be based from Sunderland, London, Derby or Thurmaston.
Responsibilities
* Lead design and delivery of an employee engagement strategy fully aligned with organisational goals.
* Lead cross‑functional initiatives to enhance employee engagement.
* Oversee content creation for digital platforms, newsletters and campaigns using compelling narratives that reflect the Arriva mission and values.
* Ensure effective feedback loops so employee voices inform decision‑making and engagement plans.
* Coach managers on creating psychologically safe and inclusive team environments.
* Plan and execute employee engagement events and surveys.
* Monitor emerging themes and metrics to continually improve engagement and demonstrate ROI.
* Manage relevant third‑party contracts and represent Arriva at events, forums and strategic partnerships.
* Support ESG goals and procurement proposals by incorporating engagement strategies.
Essential Experience
* HR business‑partnering in a large, heavily regulated and complex environment.
* Designing employee engagement strategies aligned with strategic organisational goals.
* Leading design and delivery of engagement initiatives.
* Planning, leading and managing people‑related change.
* Leveraging technology and digital tools to enhance engagement.
* Managing strategic partnerships that enhance engagement.
* Managing third‑party contracts.

* Background in internal communications or marketing.
