Early Years Group Leader - Summer - Harlow, Essex
Hours of work: 08:30 - 17:30
Salary: £421.52 - £628.71 per week, depending on age, experience, and qualifications.
(Contracts for February Half Term will be issued at 2023 wage levels. 2024 wage levels are effective from 1st April.)
Reportable to: Early Years Manager, Camp Manager, Area Manager, and Central Office

EARLY YEARS GROUP LEADER DUTIES
1. Implement the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.
2. Assist with setting up and maintaining an inviting and tidy base room, ensuring all equipment is packed away after use.
3. Follow policies and procedures to ensure a fun and safe environment for children.
4. Follow the daily activity timetable to deliver a variety of sessions as promised.
5. Collaborate with team members to deliver sessions effectively.
6. Act as the children's Key Worker, managing communication regarding their experiences.
7. Supervise children actively, ensuring their needs are met during all times, including breaks and lunch.
8. Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities with enthusiasm using available resources.
9. Encourage children’s participation while following OFSTED guidelines.
10. Build relationships with children to understand their interests and incorporate these into activities.
11. Ensure the welfare and safeguarding of children are maintained.
12. Ensure safe use of all equipment during sessions.
13. Facilitate children’s development through Explore and Play sessions.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Working towards or possessing a relevant childcare qualification.
2. Knowledge and experience with the Early Years Foundation Stage.
3. Be at least 18 years old by the start date.
4. Eligible to work in the UK.
5. Provide satisfactory professional/academic references.
6. Be enthusiastic, caring, organized, and possess excellent communication skills.
7. Ability to adapt to unpredictable challenges in childcare settings.
8. Obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or have an existing one on the Update Service.
9. Attend a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas.
10. Complete online training annually.
11. Attend an induction training day before camp opens.
12. Assist with camp pack-up at the end.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Follow all health and safety guidelines diligently.
2. Organize activities suitable for children based on your qualifications and skills.
3. Encourage participation in new activities as per the timetable.
4. Maintain discipline and safety, respecting children as individuals.
5. Follow all camp procedures and guidelines, supporting colleagues in doing the same.
6. Promote a healthy lifestyle and good hygiene.
7. Report child protection concerns to senior staff or designated persons.
8. Make reasonable adjustments for children with additional needs.
9. Support delivery of Skills Builder sessions if available.
10. Support swimming sessions, bringing swimwear; a spare T-shirt will be provided.
11. Perform other duties as required by your role and organizational needs.
