This role is brand new to our structure so it will be an exciting opportunity for an experienced and CPC qualified transport manager, looking to really make their mark somewhere. The Transport Manager will be responsible for our HGV drivers, who operate out of our yard which is just outside High Wycombe. They will report directly into the Contracts Director and work from our office in Thame, Oxfordshire. The role will work closely our Operations Manager to ensure all the requirements of our various sites are met – often at short notice and to changing deadlines.
Key Responsibilities include -
* Line management of 4 HGV drivers, Plant Fitter and indirect management of trainee plant fitter.
* Planning and co-ordinating delivery of construction plant, diesel, PPE and tools to sites across the South East
* Manage relationships with plant hire companies and external hauliers where necessary – working hard to minimise the need for any external providers.
* Managing and maintaining accurate and DVSA compliant records including TACHO information, FORS accreditation and vehicle maintenance records.
* Work closely with the H&S Manager to ensure H&S is prioritised and method statements are created correctly and followed at all times.
* Work with the plant fitter to ensure all plant sent to site is fully operational, developing a comprehensive maintenance schedule and being aware of any delays with replacement parts.
* Strategically plan replacement of older plant, vans and HGV's
* Provide holiday cover for the Operations Manager (who will also be able to cover this role)
We would love to see applications from candidates with transport management experience within the construction industry (including plant hire companies) but we will also be happy to consider Transport Managers with transferable experience from other sectors. Unfortunately we can only consider applicants who are CPC qualified to fulfil our own legal compliance.
