The Engineering team is responsible for: Defining manufacturing processes and equipment requirements Reviewing methods of manufacture, fabrication, and assembly of systems and photonic solutions Supporting daily production activities to maintain efficient workflow Ensuring products consistently meet EN9100:2016 (AS9100), legal, and customer contractual requirements As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will: Work with stakeholders to support the design and planning of manufacturing and machining operations Lead engineering activities in CAM and CNC programming of production machinery Define manufacturing methods, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and production routes for new and existing products Determine required equipment and tooling to achieve customer specifications and quality standards Optimise productivity by analysing equipment layout, workflow, assembly methods, and production output Key Responsibilities Ensure new products are successfully introduced into manufacturing using data-driven, repeatable process methods, including CAM and CNC implementation where applicable Support the Sales team with technical input for new mechanical/manufacturing enquiries Ensure work instructions, routes, BOMs, tooling, drawings, risk assessments, and facilities are implemented on time and within cost and quality targets Keep projects aligned with their original scope and objectives Provide concise, data-driven reports to the Engineering Team Leader Mentor and support junior engineers Skills & Requirements Experience producing engineering drawings and/or mechanical models using recognised CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks) Experience in CAM and/or CNC programming Strong workload management and prioritisation skills Technical expertise within defined manufacturing areas Proven experience in the application of manufacturing engineering principles Desirable Experience New product introduction and project management FMEA, PFMEA, DFMEA (Design for Manufacture) Production and process control planning, including data collection Experience working to aerospace and/or defence quality standards Knowledge of optical or photonic systems, including fibre optics
