Job Title: Early Years Practitioner
Job Purpose:
To support the Management Team in the day-to-day organisation of the day care provision and in the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.
To work as an effective team member in providing a broad range of high quality day care, play and education for children aged birth to 5 years.
The post holder will report directly to the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager.
Responsibilities:
Day Care:
* To undertake the delivery of day and sessional care places within The Nursery
* to meet the Ofsted standards of Early Years provision on a daily basis
* to meet the social, intellectual, physical and emotional needs of children and provide appropriate opportunities for all children
* to contribute to a safe, secure and stimulating environment for all children
* to help maintain the highest level of cleanliness and hygiene within the setting and all areas in use by the nursery
* to assist in the provision of professional support to parents, carers and children and maintain individual care and development plans and files.
* to participate in staff meetings
* to participate in planning and preparation in carrying out appropriate activities for children
* to undertake any training deemed necessary by the Manager and to be proactive in your professional development
* to respect confidentiality within and outside of the setting
* to be aware of and implement the nursery policies and procedures
* to have a sound knowledge of and work within the EYFS framework
* to work in partnership with colleagues within the nursery team.
At all times, to work with the Nursery guidelines, with particular reference to safeguarding and child protection, equal opportunities, special education needs and inclusion, behaviour management, and health and safety.
Person Specification:
Essential qualification, training and experience:
* Level 3 full and relevant Early Years qualification
* High levels of numeracy and literacy
* Enhanced DBS
* Sound knowledge and understanding of the EYFS Framework and Statutory Guidance
* Knowledge of Ofsted standards
* Knowledge of and commitment to: safeguarding and child protection, health and safety, equal opportunities, SEN/Inclusion
* Understanding of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation
* Knowledge and some experience of developing, planning and delivering appropriate learning activities
* Good communication skills in order to liaise with parents, staff and other agencies and professionals
* Basic competency in IT
* Ability to work as part of a team
* A willingness to undertake flexible work patterns
Desirable qualifications, training and experience:
* 1 year experience of working in an early years setting
* Experience working with children with SEN
* Safeguarding level 2, Paediatric First-Aid, Food Hygiene training
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £12.21 per hour
