Nottinghamshire County Council is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Residential Social Care Worker to join our dedicated team at The Big House, a children’s disabilities home in Edwinstowe. As a Residential Social Care Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the physical, emotional, and health care needs of children are met. You’ll work closely with families and colleagues to ensure each child’s individual needs are supported with dignity, compassion, and professionalism. You will be part of a warm and nurturing team that values every member.

About The Role

As a Residential Social Care Worker, your main duties will include:

* Providing high-quality care and support to children with Intellectual Disabilities.
* Meeting the physical, emotional, and health care needs of the children.
* Engaging in activities that promote their development and well-being.
* Working collaboratively with team members to create a safe and supportive environment.
* Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to care plans.
* Participating in shift work, including weekends and bank holidays.


Required Skills And Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

* Experience working with children and young people in a residential setting or school.
* Experience supporting children or adults with learning difficulties.
* A commitment to ongoing professional development and training.

About The Big House

The Big House is a warm, welcoming short breaks home, providing high-quality care and support for children with a significant intellectual disability who may display risk behaviours when distressed or have unmet needs. We offer them fun, safe, and enriching experiences while giving families valuable respite. Our vision is to create a place where children feel safe, loved, healthy, and happy. We focus on building trusted relationships, supporting individual needs, and celebrating every child’s achievements.


Working Hours And Benefits

This role involves working shifts, including:

* Early shifts: 6:30/7:00 am – 3:00 pm
* Late shifts: 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm
* A rota system, working two weekends out of three, with a 12-week advance schedule for planning.

We offer generous enhancements for shift work, including additional pay for hours worked after 8 pm, weekends, and bank holidays. This can significantly increase your annual earnings.
