Deputy Team Leader
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, and highly motivated Band 6 Community Deputy Team Leader to join our dedicated District Nursing team. This pivotal role offers an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse with substantial community experience to develop leadership and management skills while delivering high‑quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
* Support the Team Leader in day‑to‑day operational management of the district nursing service, ensuring safe, effective, and person‑centred care to a diverse caseload in homes and community settings.
* Lead by example, providing clinical expertise, guidance, and supervision to Band 5 Staff Nurses and Band 3 Healthcare Support Workers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
* Deputise for the Team Leader, overseeing daily workload allocation, new referrals, and resource management, and managing unforeseen operational challenges.
* Contribute to staff appraisals, mentorship, and induction of new staff, and help implement service developments and manage performance issues.
* Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient record‑keeping, and ensure evidence‑based, NMC‑standard care.
* Communicate extensively with patients, families, GPs, social workers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integrated care.
* Engage in continuing professional development (CPD), reflective practice, and adherence to all policies, promoting patient safety and service excellence.
Welsh Language Skills
Welsh skills are desirable. Candidates should have speaking and listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above.
Person Specification
* Registered Nurse with current NMC registration without restrictions.
* Evidence of further training in communication skills, conflict resolution, or difficult conversations.
* Welsh language skills (Level 3 and above / B2) are desirable.
Qualifications
* Specialist Practice Qualification in District Nursing (SPQ DN) or equivalent (e.g., BSc/MSc District Nursing), or working towards it.
* Evidence of undertaking formal leadership or management training, or commitment to undertake such training.
* Significant post‑registration nursing experience, predominantly in community or district nursing at Band 6 or above.
* Experience with service improvement initiatives, clinical audit, or development/implementation of new policies or procedures.
* Proven clinical supervision, mentorship, and leadership experience with junior staff such as Band 5 nurses and HCSWs.
* Recognised mentorship or practice assessor qualification, demonstrating ability to support student nurses.
Skills
* Advanced clinical assessment and management skills, including complex wound management, palliative care, and chronic disease management.
* Full valid UK driving licence required and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
* Advanced competence in electronic patient record systems and relevant IT platforms for data analysis, reporting, and team management.
