Company Description
UBIETY Technologies Limited is an innovative tech company developing AI-powered, radiation-free imaging technologies with applications ranging from safe organ scanning to pharmaceutical and chemical process monitoring. Backed by leading researchers and experienced entrepreneurs, we’re turning breakthrough science into real-world solutions that improve lives and protect the planet.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site Engineering Technician role located in Ely. The Engineering Technician will be responsible for planning and managing the smooth functioning of UBIETY’s R&D facilities – including high-pressure multiphase flow loop and prototyping laboratory. The role also involves analytical tasks and effective communication within the team to ensure high-quality outputs.
Qualifications
* Take ownership of the R&D and prototyping facility, organise it as test-ready as well as making it suitable for prototyping and production
* Help and/or be responsible for the assembly and maintenance of products and technologies – creating drafts to be checked and approved by senior engineers and managers as appropriate
* Always facilitate experimental campaigns but never conduct experiments by yourself unless a specific design of experiments (DoEs) with clear operating conditions and Test Protocols are provided
* The Loops are considered as resources. Therefore, create a high-level yearly resource plan but only with (weekly and/or fortnightly) granularity for the current quarter (or first three months)
* UBIETY’s ambition is to get an ISO 17025 “Testing and Calibration” certification for the Multiphase Loop with defined uncertainty budget. In consultation with the R&D technical leads and the relevant QHSE team members, organise the application, monitoring, evaluation and accreditation of the loops by the relevant body (UKAS) and other NMIs
* In consultation with the R&D team, review and evaluate the operational efficiency and safety of the loops and propose a simple and effective solution to run as required
* Develop Work Instructions for Flow Loop, Prototyping and Production areas so that staff could follow an agreed operational procedure for scheduled R&D project utilisation
* Supervise and undertake routine equipment inspections
* Coordinate instrument calibration, troubleshooting and repairs
* Provide PFDs/P&IDs and procedure updates such as loop sketches, logic circuits, calibration and test records in collaboration with research engineers and scientists
* Interface with R&D and Production staff to keep abreast of their needs and problems.
Being familiar with the work environment and processes of an R&D and Product Development team of scientists and engineers is an advantage.
