Interim Chief Risk Officer (SMF4)
Location: London
Duration: 6+ months
Engagement: Interim
We are supporting a UK‑regulated bank with the appointment of an Interim Chief Risk Officer (SMF4) for an initial six‑month mandate, starting March.
This is a rare opportunity for a seasoned CRO who thrives in a smaller banking environment—someone who brings a calm, steady presence and can help uplift and embed proportionate, best‑in‑class risk management across the organisation. The mandate requires both strategic leadership and pragmatic, hands‑on execution.
Key Requirements
* Proven experience as a Chief Risk Officer
* Must have previously held SMF4
* Strong, demonstrable UK banking background
* Ideally experienced within a smaller, foreign‑owned bank with a London branch
* Ability to assess, strengthen, and operationalise risk frameworks in a practical, right‑sized way
What You’ll Deliver
* Strengthen enterprise‑wide risk governance and oversight
* Embed proportionate policies, controls, and reporting
* Provide stabilising leadership to the executive team and Board
* Support cultural uplift and alignment across all risk disciplines
This is an excellent mandate for an experienced risk leader who enjoys delivering impact quickly and effectively in a focussed, flexible environment.
