Role: Supported Internship Job Coach

Location: Bedford College Group, Chicksands Military Base

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between Salary is £24,522 - £26,754 (Pro -Rata) per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave (Pro – Rata) plus Bank holidays,People’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 Hours per week | 52 Weeks per Year

Contract Type:Fixed-Term | 01/09/2026 – 28/02/2027 (Maternity Cover)

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Supported Internship Job Coach to join our Adult & Community Learning & ESOL department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Supported Internship Job Coach, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

1. Purpose & Outcomes – Supports learners to overcome barriers to learning, particularly in assessments and assignments, enabling achievement across all levels and progression into employment or further opportunities
2. Employer Engagement & Placements – Works with employers to source and develop work placements, volunteering and job opportunities, including job carving, ensuring health & safety compliance and ongoing placement support
3. Learner Planning & Progression – Develops and maintains individual learning and transition plans, conducts vocational profiling, monitors progress and reviews goals linked to employment, education and independence
4. Learner Support & Skills Development – Supports applications, placements and travel training, identifying skills gaps and liaising with tutors to embed employability and independence skills within learning
5. Collaboration & Professional Practice – Works closely with staff, employers and external partners, maintains accurate records, supports team functions and upholds safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and CPD responsibilities

About you:

6. Qualifications & Communication – Good general education with strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively support learners and stakeholders
7. Knowledge & Experience – Solid understanding of SEND, with experience supporting young people in educational, work placement or care settings, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
8. Core Skills – Strong organisational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage tasks efficiently and support learner development
9. Personal Attributes – Adaptable, patient and proactive team player, able to use initiative, respond to learner needs and motivate others while promoting equal opportunities
10. Additional Requirements – Flexible working approach with own transport, willingness to follow direction, and commitment to safeguarding, including enhanced DBS clearance

The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.
