We are seeking to appoint an exceptional and committed History Teacher to join our outstanding Humanities team at Twynham School on a maternity cover basis. While the role is based at Twynham School, there may be occasional travel to The Grange School for departmental collaboration.

We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:
- To teach students according to their educational needs, including the setting and marking of work to be carried out by the student in school and elsewhere.
- To assess, record and report on the attendance, progress, development and attainment of students and to keep such records as are required.
- To provide, or contribute to, oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual students and groups of students.
- To undertake a designated programme of teaching.
- To ensure a high-quality learning experience for students which meets internal and external quality standards.
- To prepare and update subject materials.
- To use a variety of delivery methods which will stimulate learning appropriate to student needs and demands of the curriculum.
- To maintain discipline in accordance with the school's procedures, and to encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and home learning.
- To undertake assessment of students as requested by the school.
- To mark, grade and give written/verbal and diagnostic feedback as required.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic teacher who will relish the opportunity to deliver engaging and thought-provoking History lessons. You will be responsible for ensuring excellent progress across your classes and for creating a calm and purposeful learning environment where all students can thrive. You will be confident in planning and delivering lessons that are differentiated to meet the needs of all learners, and you will be committed to supporting students' academic and personal development. You will work closely with colleagues across the federation to share best practice and contribute to the ongoing development of the History curriculum. Whether you are an experienced practitioner or an early career teacher, you will be ambitious for your own development and eager to contribute to the wider life of the school.
You will have:
* An honours degree (or equivalent) in History or a related discipline
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Experience of improving outcomes for students in History as a classroom teacher
* Successful experience of teaching History across Key Stage 3-4
* An understanding of effective pedagogy
* Committed to supporting the vision of Twynham TGS
* Excellent classroom management skills
* Ability to travel independently
