Offer description

Join Us in Shaping the Future of the
Church in Cornwall

Archdeacon of Bodmin

We are seeking a prayerful, visionary and collaborative priest to serve as the next Archdeacon of Bodmin. Covering six of our 12 deaneries this is a pivotal leadership role at the heart of eastern Cornwall’s church communities — supporting, inspiring and equipping clergy and laity to flourish in mission and ministry.

The Diocese of Truro is at an exciting and challenging point in the long history of Christian faith in Cornwall. As the world changes and God’s church responds, we have discerned and developed clear plans for our future.

Over the last few years, we have been working through a time of significant change and every deanery now has a clear plan with particular attention on resourcing new patterns of ministry, engaging with children and young people, and focusing resources on our most deprived communities and social injustice. These local plans are supported by a diocesan plan for change and renewal. The Archdeacon of Cornwall plays a crucial part in supporting and leading the continued implementation of these plans.

About the Role

This is a role for someone who delights in rural ministry, thrives on complexity and problem solving, and brings both strategic insight and pastoral warmth. You’ll work closely with the Bishops, the Archdeacon of Cornwall, and the wider senior team to:

* Lead the implementation of deanery and diocesan plans for change and renewal
* Support clergy and parishes through clergy recruitment and pastoral reorganisation
* Champion safeguarding, clergy wellbeing, and healthy church cultures
* Oversee and undertake HR casework and statutory archidiaconal responsibilities

Key Dates

* Closing Date: Friday 6 February at 12 noon
* Interviews (in Truro) and visit to house: Tuesday 24 February
* Possible additional optional visiting day to house and parishes: Monday 23 February

NB: This is a re-advertisement and those whom previously applied will not be considered

Safeguarding - Everyone Matters - Everyone’s Responsibility

The Diocese of Truro strives to be trauma informed, and is committed to
developing safer policies, cultures and practices.
