An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Division of Surgery & Cancer for a highly motivated and dynamic Band 6 nurse for Primrose ward, on a one-year secondment basis. The successful candidate must be an innovative, hardworking, and enthusiastic adult nurse with a broad range of skills and experiences. Excellent leadership and management skills are essential. We seek a compassionate and caring nurse who will work closely with the ward manager to deliver outstanding patient care in East London and beyond.

Main duties of the job
Support the Ward Manager in delivering high standards of care to meet patient needs and Trust objectives. The post holder will serve as a role model of the Barts Health values and key behaviours to team members and the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT).
As a senior team member, the Band 6 nurse will be a competent and confident practitioner capable of caring for and managing deteriorating and acutely ill patients, escalating concerns appropriately. The post requires management and facilitation skills to coordinate and supervise ward staff, promote multidisciplinary working, and foster a supportive, learning environment.
In the absence of the Ward Manager, the post holder will assume responsibility for the ward's effective operation, including audits, budget management, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and ensuring compliance with infection control policies, dress code, and other Trust protocols. As a registered nurse, the post holder is expected to act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
