Salary: Β£28,000-Β£30,000 per annum depending on experience.

Hours: 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:00-17:00

Location: Swadlincote, DE11 8ED

As a Transport Planner you’ll be the hero behind the scenes, helping to ensure smooth day-to-day operations, planning driver schedules for delivery, collection and troubleshooting any bumps in the road.


Key Responsibilities:


* Routing and Load Planning: Daily vehicle routing and load planning, ensuring efficient use of fleet and timely deliveries.
* Driver Operations Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of drivers, ensuring schedules are followed, workloads are balanced, and any operational issues are addressed promptly.
* Subcontractor Coordination: Book approved subcontractors when required, ensuring service levels and cost controls are maintained.
* Operational Problem-Solving: Respond quickly to breakdowns, delays, and driver absences, adapting plans in real time to minimise disruption.
* Driver Communication & Briefing: Maintain daily communication with drivers, providing clear route briefings and ensuring adherence to schedules and compliance requirements.
* Customer Service & Delivery Management: Handle delivery issues, rebooks, and customer updates, acting as a key point of contact to maintain high service standards.
* Pre-Delivery & POD Management: Conduct pre-delivery calls to confirm arrangements and manage proof of delivery (POD) follow-ups to ensure accurate and timely documentation.
* Performance Monitoring & Invoicing Support: Support invoicing processes and monitor late, failed, or damaged deliveries, identifying trends and escalating issues where necessary.


Requirements:

* 1+ years of experience in transport administration, planning, or logistics role
* Strong communication skills, ability to work under pressure, proficiency in IT/transport management software, and strong geographical knowledge
* Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
* Excellent communication skills for working with drivers and customers.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
