Ellen Tinkham School and College in Exeter, part of the Learn to Live Federation, is a Special School for children and young people aged 3 - 19 with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties. We currently have a permanent vacancy for a Site Senior to support our Premises Team in the day to day maintenance of our school sites, commencing January 2026.
It is essential that applicants have a good understanding of health and safety and maintenance as they will be responsible for carrying out premises and grounds maintenance grass cutting, simple repairs, installation, general building maintenance (interior and exterior), compliance checks and security of the premises.
They will order and issue maintenance and cleaning materials, assist with the maintenance of the hydrotherapy pool, ensuring the water quality meets H&S guidelines, manage chemical levels, clean the pool areas, changing areas and toilets and deal with incidents of water contamination. They will work to acceptable set standards and maintain admin records and databases, so basic IT skills are essential. They will help manage the school transport arrangements at the start and end of the school day. On occasions they may be required to drive school vehicles.
We are seeking someone who is organised, able to manage their time and prioritise their workload, with good communication skills and diplomacy, enjoys practical work an experienced DIYer with the ability to work on maintenance tasks such as painting, plumbing, basic building work, gardening and use power tools. This role is very physical and they will be working outside throughout the year in all weather.
