1:1 SEN Support Teaching Assistant – County Durham (DH3) Location: County Durham, DH3 Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time (term-time only) Start Date: ASAP/Flexible We are looking for a caring and committed 1:1 SEN Support Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in the DH3 area of County Durham. This rewarding role involves working closely with an individual pupil who requires additional support to help them access learning and reach their full potential. About the Role As a 1:1 SEN Support Teaching Assistant, you will: Provide dedicated one-to-one support to a pupil with special educational needs. Help to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and adapt learning activities to meet the child’s specific needs. Encourage and support positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social interaction. Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCo to monitor progress and ensure consistent support. Create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where the child feels safe and valued. About You We’re looking for someone who: Has experience working with children with special educational needs, either in a school or similar setting. Holds (or is working towards) a relevant qualification such as Level 2 or Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent. Is patient, empathetic, and able to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils. Demonstrates excellent communication skills and works well as part of a team.
