Quality Engineer – Major UK Infrastructure Project (Sizewell C)
Location: Suffolk
Salary: £65,000 + £5,000 car allowance + 10% annual bonus + £21,630 lodge allowance + 25 days holiday + private healthcare
We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join one of the UK’s most respected civil engineering contractors on a nationally significant infrastructure project in Suffolk.
This contractor has built its reputation on delivering large-scale earthworks, remediation, and enabling works across the UK. The business is known for doing things properly, with a focus on technical excellence, safety, and quality rather than quick wins.
-----------------------------------
A Day in the Life
Your day starts on one of the most complex civil engineering sites in the country, where precision and documentation matter as much as progress. You’ll walk the site with engineers, verifying compaction test results, checking formation levels, and ensuring works meet specification before sign-off.
Back in the site office, you’ll review ITPs, confirm hold points, and liaise with the delivery and QA teams to make sure every test certificate and inspection record is complete. You’ll be the person who ensures that when the client asks for proof, it’s there.
Throughout the day, you’ll work closely with engineers, foremen, and materials testing teams, addressing NCRs, recording corrective actions, and keeping quality systems tight and auditable. You’ll finish your day knowing that what’s been built will pass any inspection because it’s been delivered right, first time.

Key Responsibilities
* Implement and maintain the Project Quality Plan, ensuring compliance with client and regulatory requirements.
* Prepare, review, and update ITPs, check sheets, and testing regimes for earthworks and civil operations.
* Carry out inspections, audits, and verification testing including compaction, density, MCV, grading, and CBR testing.
* Liaise with site teams to investigate and resolve NCRs, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are completed.
* Maintain complete and accurate records, certificates, and documentation for audits and handovers.
* Support pre-start and progress meetings, providing clear updates on quality performance and compliance.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the project.
-----------------------------------
Requirements
* HNC/Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering.
* Experience as a Quality Engineer, Section Engineer, or QA/QC professional on large-scale civils or infrastructure projects.
* Strong understanding of ITPs, testing regimes, compaction control, and material compliance processes.
* Solid practical knowledge of earthworks, drainage, and civils delivery.
* Excellent attention to detail, proactive approach, and clear communication skills.
-----------------------------------
Package
* £65,000 basic salary
* £5,000 car allowance
* 10% annual bonus
* £21,630 annual lodge allowance (if applicable)
* 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
* Private healthcare
* Opportunity to work on one of the UK’s largest and most high-profile infrastructure projects
