DUTY WORKER - UASC, NOTTINGHAM, PERMANENT, 37HRS, GRADE 2 AS, £24,398, FTE Are you a caring individual who is concerned about social inequality? Beginning a career with Framework Housing Association working with disadvantaged young people aged 16-25 could be for you. The Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Childrens service works directly with Nottinghamshire County Council and the Family Service to accommodate and support asylum seeking children. The service has both core and cluster accommodation, including emergency bed spaces for spontaneous arrivals. The aim is to ensure that all support needs are comprehensively identified and met. The young people in this service are rewarding to work with, they are motivated and willing to engage with staff. We are looking for a dedicated and passionate full time Young Persons Duty Worker to be responsible for young people aged 16 to 25 years old who are referred into our unaccompanied asylum-seeking Service. The successful applicant will have the ability to support young people with daily life skills and be able to easily build rapport and trust. Supporting young people to make informed, safe decisions is key. The role requires the successful applicant to work 37 hours per week, covering a rota which includes evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. You will be based in core services which are staffed 24hrs a day, based in Colwick, Sherwood and Lady Bay and will also visit young people in our dispersed accommodation in various locations in Nottingham City and the boroughs of Gedling and Broxtowe. Experience of working with young people is desirable but the ability to build rapport and encourage young people to make informed, good decisions is what is most important. Duties & Responsibilities To create a positive, nurturing and trusted home environment for young people To work collaboratively with other agencies and professionals including social workers, personal advisors, housing providers, health professionals Build effective relationships with young people referred into and living at the service. Complete sign-up paperwork for people moving in. Encourage young people to problem-solve and identify coping strategies when experiencing trauma, distress, self-harm, anger. Deliver activities promoting social engagement, healthy living, independent life skills and effective shared living. Maintain all records in line with internal Framework reporting and recording standards. To assist with completing tasks on support plans with young people. Complete welfare checks and resident at risk checks. Why Join Us?
