UHT has developed its first group strategy underpinned by clinical transformation proposals together with proposals to transform our corporate services.

This is an exciting role in which the post holder will play a central part in supporting the further development and implementation of the generational transformation envisaged by the UHT strategy.

The role is fundamental to ensuring the group embeds the principles of continuous improvement into the strategy by responding to new developments externally and internally and providing analysis to support decisions and communications.

The post holder will work across the UHT group, and its two statutory organisations and across a wide range of specialties including working with very senior corporate and clinical staff..

The role will support 1. the provision of strategic insight and analysis for the further development of the strategy and 2. the delivery of detailed and challenging engagement with internal and external partners.

The post will be hosted by North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust on behalf of UHT


Main duties of the job

Responsibility for Planning Development

Organises own day to day work and exercises a high level of autonomy and self-motivation while planning work around key project dates and deadlines.

Ensures that development meetings are arranged at appropriate intervals and at times that take into account the other responsibilities of the clinical board members.

Ensures that appropriate reports are circulated prior to meetings, and that minutes and action points are produced. Ensures that the group has the required agendas, information and decision options to effectively govern the project and that other relevant stakeholders are appropriately briefed about progress and issues relating to the project.

Responsible for challenging the senior clinical and corporate leaders appropriately, and in a timely manner, where decisions are being made which contradict the agreed plans/ output specifications of the project.

Identifies potential interdependency issues either within or outside the project board and uses negotiation and planning skills to resolve these, or escalates them to the triumvirate/ programme manager.

Ensures that there are appropriate attendees and meeting arrangements/facilitation are in place in order to progress key issues.

May be required to take notes for circulation to the wider programme/project team

Ensures that reporting (format tbc) is in place and is completed according to appropriate timescales


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Knowledge of specific area acquired through degree or equivalent experience
* Strategic and/or change management skills gained from postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience
* Project Management Qualification
* Research or analytical qualification


Experience

* Experience in supporting significant change initiatives and developing complex project plans
* Proven experience in engaging successfully with a range of stakeholders
* Experience of using influencing and negotiation techniques
* Experience of producing written reports and relating to complex information and data
* Use of appropriate communications and techniques to motivate and inspire others to act
* Experience of developing analysis of strategic options and drawing a clear recommendation
* Experience in presenting to larger audiences which can be challenging
* Experience in developing high quality presentations using MS powerpoint
* Experience as a formal project manager.
* Experience in an analytical role using sophisticated analytical techniques
* Experience in a research background covering in-depth analysis


Knowledge

* In depth knowledge and experience in supporting significant change initiatives
* Ability to analyse and assess information from multiple sources to inform options appraisals/ business cases
* Can demonstrate the ability to work alongside and constructively challenge decision making where appropriate including of very senior staff.
* Self starter who is able to develop options and clearly communicate the impact of different options on the timescales, costs and benefits realisation trajectories to senior staff
* Able to communicate a clear vision and direction to motivate teams and foster an environment where groups and individuals can achieve better outcomes for patients including to senior staff and external stakeholders .
* The ability to communicate highly complex information where there are barriers to acceptance, using the highest level of interpersonal skills
* High quality Excel skills
* Workshop design and facilitation skills
* Specialist knowledge and understanding of the subject matter of the clinical or corporate area

£47,810 to £54,710 a yearpro rata per annum
