We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accounts Manager to join our successful and growing independent accounting practice.
This pivotal role is central to delivering exceptional financial services to a diverse client base, including small businesses, entrepreneurs, and high-net-worth individuals.
As a Senior Accounts Manager, you will lead end-to-end accounting cycles, ensure compliance with UK GAAP and HMRC regulations, and drive strategic financial insights through accurate reporting and tax planning. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor, managing complex portfolios with precision and professionalism while leveraging industry-leading tools like Iris and Xero. Your expertise will directly impact client success, regulatory compliance, and the continued growth of a forward-thinking, client-centric practice. The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge of UK tax legislation with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset and a commitment to excellence in service delivery.
Responsibilities:
* Oversee full accounting cycles for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance with UK GAAP and HMRC standards, and on-time delivery.
* Prepare and review personal tax returns (Self-Assessment), corporate tax returns (CT600), and associated schedules with a focus on tax efficiency and compliance.
* Deliver comprehensive management accounts, including P&L, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and variance analysis, to support strategic decision-making.
* Utilise Iris and Xero platforms to streamline data management, reconciliation, reporting and client communication.
* Act as the primary client contact, providing expert guidance on financial strategy, tax planning, and regulatory compliance.

* ACA ACCA qualified.
* Post-qualification experience in a professional accounting practice or corporate finance environment.
* Proven track record in preparing personal and corporate tax returns with in-depth knowledge of UK tax law and HMRC requirements.
* Advanced proficiency in Iris and Xero, including complex reporting, automation, and integration features.
* Demonstrated ability to produce insightful management accounts and financial analysis for varied client types.

Requirements
Full ACCA or ACA qualification. Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, audit, or business advisory within a professional services firm or corporate environment. Demonstrated expertise in UK GAAP and IFRS, including complex accounting treatments and financial statement disclosures. Proven track record in team leadership, performance management, and staff development. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to translate financial data into clear, strategic insights. Advanced proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Xero, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel (including complex formulas and data modelling). Client-focused approach with a history of delivering high-quality work under pressure and tight deadlines. Strong commitment to ethics, continuous learning, and maintaining the highest standards of professional integrity.
