School Business Manager – Horsham
Engage Education is working with a successful and forward-thinking secondary school in Horsham to recruit an experienced School Business Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly organised and proactive professional to join a supportive school environment and play a key role in leading the operational functions of the school.
About the role
* Leading and managing the school’s operational and administrative functions
* Line managing support staff across administration, premises, catering, and reprographics
* Overseeing site maintenance, facilities management, and contractor performance
* Acting as the school’s Health & Safety Co‑ordinator and Fire Officer
* Managing compliance processes, risk assessments, and emergency planning
* Supporting the effective running of school systems and operational procedures
* Coordinating daily cover arrangements and staff absence processes
* Monitoring outsourced services and ensuring value for money
* Supporting educational visits administration and compliance procedures
* Working closely with senior leaders to improve operational efficiency across the school
* Supporting whole‑school events and key school activities where required
About you
* Previous experience within school business management, operations, or senior administration
* Strong leadership and staff management experience
* Excellent organisational and problem‑solving skills
* Confident managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
* Strong understanding of health & safety and compliance procedures
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Confident using IT systems and data management tools
* Able to work independently and collaboratively within a school environment
* A proactive and professional approach with strong attention to detail
