Section Engineer – HPC
Join BMD Group's Empower Advisory UK as a fully‑time Section Engineer based in Bridgwater, Somerset. The role requires a 10‑on / 4‑off shift pattern with working hours from 12:00 to 22:30. You will manage junior engineers, assist the Sub‑Agent in construction operations, and demonstrate a culture of safety and quality.
The main responsibilities include:
* Regular communication and reporting to multiple stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and coordination of subcontractors.
* Allocate labour, plant, materials and temporary works to carry out activities to the required standards, programme and budget.
* Assist with the production of programmes, progress reports, material procurement, resource and cost plans.
* Identify and resolve technical problems on site in liaison with the Sub‑Agent.
* Conduct site evaluations, develop Health & Safety and Quality documentation, provide technical expertise, prepare reports and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
* People management including junior engineers, site engineers, sub‑contractors and operatives.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* Degree level, HNC/HND qualification in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience).
* 4+ years of site experience, including setting out, utilities and earthworks.
* Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practice.
* IT skills including MS Office and AutoCAD 3D.
* Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
* BPSS level of security clearance is required.
Desirable
* CSCS, SMSTS, TWS or TWC certificates.
* Experience with BIM/Digital platforms (P6, Aphex, MS Project).
* Aware of commercial processes.
* Leadership and organisational skills.
