Job Summary:
The Senior QA Engineer at Assured Data Protection is a member of the agile development team and has a key role in ensuring our software is reliable and supports to minimise errors and defects. The role of a Senior QA Engineer is to be a role model for good quality tests and guide others in best practices in software testing. You will have excellent knowledge in all aspects of the software development and testing lifecycle working in an Agile environment. You will help in ensuring that our software meets the defined requirements, quality, and our clients' expectations.
Key responsibilities include:
Software Testing:
- Excellent knowledge and experience in different testing types.
- Able to mentor other members of the testing team in the software testing lifecycle.
- Able to stand in for the QA Lead Engineer when required.
- Take a senior position when planning and executing tests to support different stages in the development and testing lifecycle.
- Experience in analysing Acceptance Criteria and produce good quality tests according to the requirements.
- Provide clear and concise defect reports and able to document / demonstrate steps to reproduce.
- Chase and highlight any risks in the current sprint and escalate in a timely manner.
- Able to communicate with stakeholders at various levels.
- Able to prioritise and risk access testing workload on tight timescales.
- Ability to prioritise and organise tasks.
2. Testing Processes:
- Contribute and highlight areas of improvement to our software testing processes.
- Be a key member of the Agile development team and promote the ways of working and our Scrum adoption.
- Collaborate closely with the team to determine the software requirements defined.
3. Developers:
- Work closely with the developers to ensure work is completed and tested within the agreed deadlines.
- Maintain software quality through testing protocols, and documentation practices.
- Contribute to software releases by ensuring they are tested to the correct level and risks have been minimised.
4. Collaboration:
- Able to work with other teams such as Support/ Marketing/ Client Services to ensure our software is tested in line with their needs.
Key Requirements:
Qualifications & Experience:
- 6+ Years experience of a variety of software testing, ideally in an Agile working environment (Scrum or Kanban).
- Excellent knowledge of the software development and testing lifecycle and agile methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Attention to details.
- Some experience in API testing.
Desirable Attributes:
- ISTQB Foundation
- Knowledge of Performance Testing
- Knowledge of Automation Testing
- Knowledge of Mobile Testing
- Willingness to learn new skills.
- Mentoring experience
- Knowledge of a coding language
Technical:
- Jira/ Confluence or other project management tools.
- MySQL/ SQL Databases
- Postman (nice to have)
- Playwright (nice to have)
- VSCode (nice to have)
- QAlityPlus (nice to have)
