Overview
We are seeking a nurturing, empathetic, and creative Mentor to support a Year 8 student in Basingstoke. This young person has an ADHD diagnosis and is currently undergoing assessment for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). They would benefit from a consistent, compassionate adult who can help build their confidence, engagement, and ability to form positive relationships.
Responsibilities
As a Mentor, you will:
* Work 1:1 with this student across five sessions per week, each lasting two hours.
* Build trust and rapport through consistent, caring support.
* Encourage engagement in learning and social activities.
* Help develop emotional resilience and self-esteem.
* Foster positive adult relationships and model healthy communication.
About you
You do not need formal qualifications to apply. What matters most is your ability to connect, understand, and support. We welcome applicants with backgrounds in:
* Youth work
* Support work
* 1:1 mentoring or tutoring
* Creative arts, play therapy, or similar fields
You'll be someone who is patient, intuitive, and able to adapt your approach to meet the needs of individuals.

Essential & Desirable Qualifications
* Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young people
* Trauma-informed – desirable
Eligibility
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
* Hold right to work in the UK
* Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
* Provide references upon request
* Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
