Transport Studies Unit, School of Geography and the Environment, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3QY The Transport Studies Unit (TSU) is seeking to appoint a Senior Research Associate to strengthen its research capability in the quantitative analysis of transport equity and justice. The postholder will contribute to the TSU’s internationally recognised research on urban transport and mobilities across the global North and South. Reporting to Professor Tim Schwanen, the successful candidate will develop an independent programme of research. This will include developing research questions related to transport equity and justice, analysing complex datasets, contributing to methodological innovation, and leading externally funded research activity. The role involves publishing high-quality research, developing grant applications, managing research projects and budgets, collaborating with academic and non-academic partners, and contributing to stakeholder engagement activities. The postholder will also contribute to teaching and executive education activities where appropriate. Candidates should hold a relevant PhD/DPhil with postdoctoral research experience, hold expertise regarding transport equity and justice, demonstrate a strong publication record, and have experience of research funding applications and collaborative working. This post is fixed term for 3 years and offered on a full-time basis (1 FTE / 37.5 hours). The role is available to start from 1 September 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
