Specialty Doctor – Dermatology

This post is for a Specialty Doctor in Dermatology. It is a whole‑time position offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
Applicants must be eligible for full registration with the GMC at the time of appointment.
Main duties of the job
* 8.5 DCC (Dermatology Clinical Care)
* 1.5 SPA (Specialist Practitioner Activities)
* Participation each week in the Dermatology Grand Round, Audit, Journal Club and Histopathology meetings attended by all consultants and dermatology colleagues in the region.
* No on‑call commitment.
* Each week except the first week of the month when a departmental meeting is held, one session is based at Broadgreen Hospital and includes participation in the Dermatology Grand Round, Audit, Journal Club and Histopathology meetings.

Qualifications
* Applicants must hold full registration with the GMC at the time of application
* Hold a higher diploma or MD, MRCP or Masters
* Have some training in teaching methods
Knowledge and Experience
* Have at least 4 years’ full‑time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part‑time or flexible basis) of which at least 2 years must be in a specialty training programme or as a Fixed‑Term Specialty Trainee in the relevant specialty, OR equivalent experience and competencies.
* Experience in Dermatology (including Minor Operations)
Skills
* Ability to communicate effectively in English (written & verbally)
* Appropriate knowledge base and ability to apply sound clinical judgment to problems
Other
* Demonstrate understanding of the importance of audit and research
* Either a full current driving licence and access to a car or access to a form of transport that will permit the full requirements of the post to be met
